Here's the deal with this lady. Just after the wedding ceremony, we were ushered into the bride's home for a meal. She is a member of the brides family, and is tasked with taking care of us. She had to wash our hands in a sort of ceremonial way, then bring out all the food and provide pleasant conversation. She is, without a doubt, underpaid for such tasks. As a side note, she did mention that, due to her advanced age, it would be improper for her to wear a dress that isn't floor-length. Younger girls can have shorter dresses, but she's too old for such things. She's 26.
