So, if you don't want to deal with village life, there are some _very_ nice resorts available. Running water, flushing toilets, fancy lighting, mountains of food, flushing toilets... all the good stuff. And not as expensive as you'd think. This one ran around $150/night (which is, admittedly, about 2 months of wages for a Kenyan teacher).
